The Pat Tillman Foundation's national scholarship for active-duty service members, veterans and military spouses, including surviving spouses, enrolled full time in a bachelor's, master's or professional degree programme at an accredited US institution. The average award is $10,000 per academic year and covers tuition, fees, books and living expenses, with the exact amount set by financial need and cost of attendance. Around 60 Tillman Scholars are selected annually from more than 160 universities and fewer than 3 per cent of applicants are chosen. Scholars join a lifelong professional network; the cohorts include large numbers of engineering, computing, medical and public-health students, making this one of the strongest funded routes into a STEM graduate degree for people who served.
