An independent 12-week research fellowship that pairs scholars with mentors across seven tracks: empirical research, theory, strategy and forecasting, policy and governance, systems security, founding and field-building, and biosecurity. The program runs from offices in Berkeley, California and London, UK, and provides a $1,250 weekly stipend, $2,000 per week of compute, housing and catered meals, research management and seminars, with an optional funded 6 to 12 month extension. Applicants come from machine learning, mathematics, policy, economics and other backgrounds; prior AI safety experience is not required.
