Jefferson Science Fellowships

About This Program

A one-year fellowship placing tenured or similarly senior science, engineering and medical faculty at the U.S. Department of State as science and technology advisers on foreign policy. Established in 2003 as a way to bring academic technical expertise into the formulation and implementation of U.S. foreign policy, it is overseen by the State Department's Office of Science and Technology Investment, Innovation, and Cooperation within the Bureau of Cyberspace and Digital Policy, with administration by the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine. A mid-to-late-career science policy route rather than a student programme.
