The Horizon Fellowship places technically literate people into US policy roles working on artificial intelligence, biotechnology and other emerging technologies. Placements run up to two years across three tracks: congressional offices and executive-branch agencies on 12-month renewable terms, and think tanks on six-month junior or 12-month senior terms. Compensation for the 2027 cohort is set at $78,000 a year for junior fellows, $130,000 for fellows and $190,000 or more for senior fellows, each with a $17,000 annual benefits stipend, up to $3,000 relocation and up to $3,000 professional development. Competitive applicants have subject-matter expertise in their technology area, strong writing and the ability to explain technical material to non-technical audiences, and must be able to work in the US and relocate to Washington, DC. Applications typically open in July and close in September.
