Run by the Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologists, the Applied Epidemiology Fellowship places fellows in two years of on-the-job training at a state, tribal, local or territorial health department under the guidance of two experienced mentors. The programme recruits both fellows and host sites through separate application tracks, and is the main structured entry route into governmental applied epidemiology practice in the United States alongside the CDC's own training programmes. CSTE also runs the Applied Public Health Informatics Fellowship and a Senior Public Health Data Strategy Fellowship.
