African Research Universities Alliance (ARUA)
The African Research Universities Alliance, with support from the Mastercard Foundation and Carnegie Corporation of New York, funds six-month Early-Career Research Fellowships for African PhD holders within five years of completion, based at its Centres of Excellence across Africa in areas including energy, materials/nanotechnology, water, and AI/data science alongside other disciplines. At least 70% of places are reserved for women, with 2026-2027 fellowship terms running March 2026-February 2027.
