A network of local programmes in which young people who are out of school or out of work earn a high school credential while learning construction skills, most often by building or rehabilitating affordable housing in their own communities. Training pairs classroom education toward a diploma or equivalency with hands-on construction and pre-apprenticeship experience plus leadership development, and local YouthBuild programmes are frequently the feeder into registered building-trades apprenticeships.
