The Career & Technical Scholarship is the short-credential arm of the Washington State Opportunity Scholarship, a public-private programme that funds Washington residents moving into the state's high-demand technical workforce. It supports students pursuing certificates, registered apprenticeships or associate degrees in eligible health care, STEM and skilled-trades programmes, rather than the four-year pathway covered by the organisation's Baccalaureate Scholarship. Awards run up to $1,500 per quarter and continue until the student completes their programme, which makes it unusually well suited to apprenticeships and stackable credentials that do not fit a standard academic-year award cycle. Recipients also gain access to the scholarship's student support services alongside the funding.
