About This Program

The student programme portfolio of the United States Patent and Trademark Office, covering high school, college, graduate and law students. Tracks include the USPTO (Anthony Bowen) Internship Program, open to students at four-year and community colleges and trade schools in fields including STEM and cybersecurity and running about one semester; Office of Policy and International Affairs law internships for first- and second-year law students; unpaid Virtual Student Federal Service internships running September to May; and the Presidential Management Fellows route for advanced-degree students. Most tracks require U.S. citizenship and apply through USAJOBS. Distinctive as a federal STEM pathway into patent examination and intellectual property rather than bench research.
