A paid full-time summer fellowship run by the World Food Prize Foundation in partnership with the US Department of Agriculture, placing college and graduate students alongside USDA scientists and policymakers at leading research centres and offices across the country. Fellows take part in field and laboratory research, analyse agriculture and economic policy, and help manage food, nutrition and rural development programmes. The fellowship runs June to August at 40 hours per week with an eight-week minimum commitment, and fellows also attend a week-long Washington Leadership Symposium in Washington, DC. Applicants must be US citizens who have participated in a World Food Prize Youth Program and are enrolled full-time in college, or high school seniors enrolling in college that autumn.
