United States Naval Academy
Every midshipman attends the Naval Academy on a full scholarship: the Navy pays 100 percent of tuition, room and board, and medical and dental care, so the four-year cost to the student is zero. The academy offers 23 majors weighted heavily towards engineering and the physical sciences, and graduates commission as officers in the US Navy or Marine Corps with specialisations including surface warfare, aviation, submarines, special operations and information warfare. Applicants need a congressional nomination, must pass a fitness assessment and submit SAT, ACT or CLT scores; the process can begin as early as junior year of high school.
