A USD 5,000 award from TREE Fund, the Tree Research and Education Endowment Fund, for students in arboriculture, urban forestry, horticulture or nursery management. Named for the horticulturist Bonnie Appleton, whose research on tree root systems and planting practice shaped how nursery stock is grown and installed. Arboriculture is a genuinely under-funded corner of the plant sciences - most horticulture scholarship lists skip it entirely - and TREE Fund is the main dedicated source. All six of its scholarships run on the same cycle, accepting applications from 15 January to 15 March each year through a single grant and scholarship portal, so it is worth checking eligibility against the whole set rather than just one.
