The charitable arm of the Texas Society of Professional Engineers funds two awards for engineering students at Texas universities. The TEF/ATSPE Undergraduate Scholarship goes to students who have completed at least three semesters and will hold junior or senior standing, and the Jimmy H. Smith, Ph.D., P.E. Graduate Scholarship supports graduate study. Both require full-time enrolment in an ABET-accredited engineering programme at a Texas institution and US citizenship. Selection weighs academic standing, financial need and potential contribution to the profession, and funds are paid to the university's financial office rather than the student. Applications have closed in mid-January in recent cycles.
