Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service
A four-year lineworker apprenticeship from the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service, delivered face-to-face at TEEX facilities. Each year carries 96 hours of instruction, typically taken as three non-consecutive weeks spaced about a month apart, and the four levels (EPP111 through EPP411) progress from wood pole climbing, basic rigging, electric power principles, and bucket and digger truck operation into single- and three-phase systems, transformer installation, rubber gloving techniques, and leadership fundamentals. The structure is designed to help participants meet the 144 hours of related instruction required by U.S. Department of Labor apprenticeship programmes, with open-enrollment courses available to top up the total. Participants must be affiliated with an electric company, cooperative, or contractor and provide proof before registering; TEEX lists DHS/FEMA, GSA, and veterans benefits among possible funding routes.
