Seed funding of up to US$5,000 for trainees and early-career investigators in sleep and circadian science who lack institutional research resources or a sustained record of external funding, intended as a stepping stone toward career development awards such as NIH K-awards. Applicants must be members in good standing of the Sleep Research Society or the American Academy of Sleep Medicine and either registered in an undergraduate or graduate programme, or within ten years of a terminal degree and no further along than Assistant Professor. Funds may pay participants, supplies, small equipment, lab tests and assays, and research assistants, but not salary, conference travel or institutional indirect costs. Some grants are co-funded with the AASM Foundation.
