An education award from Soroptimist International of the Americas for women who are the primary financial support for their families and are returning to or continuing education. Over half of recipients are survivors of domestic violence, trafficking or sexual assault. The award is deliberately flexible - funds can go to tuition, books, childcare or transportation, which matters for students whose barrier is not tuition alone. In the most recent cycle reported, more than USD 3.4 million went to over 2,300 women. Applications are accepted from 1 August through 15 November each year. It is open across all fields of study, so STEM applicants apply on the same footing as everyone else; the eligibility test is financial responsibility for dependants, not subject area.
