About This Program

A ten-week NSF Research Experience for Undergraduates at Scripps Institution of Oceanography in La Jolla, California, supported by the NSF Division of Ocean Sciences. Fellows work on earth, ocean and atmospheric sciences projects under the collective mentorship of Scripps faculty, postdoctoral researchers and graduate students, attend weekly workshops on research and presentation skills, career options and graduate school preparation, and present at an end-of-summer student research symposium with the opportunity to present again at a national conference. The programme deliberately recruits students early in their college career and from institutions with limited undergraduate research opportunities. Note that this is a distinct programme from the Scripps Research SURF fellowship, which is run by the separate biomedical institute of a similar name.
