The South African National Space Agency funds honours, master's and doctoral study in space-related STEM across three research streams: Earth Observation (remote sensing, GIS, geography, environmental science), Space Engineering (computer science, electrical and mechanical engineering) and Space Science (mathematics, physics, applied mathematics). The agency states award values of R150,000 a year for honours, R160,000 for master's and R170,000 for doctoral study. Applicants must be 32 or younger and hold a minimum 65% average in their most recent year of study, with postgraduate applicants also supplying a supervisor testimonial and a draft research proposal. Recipients may additionally access mentorship, internship placements and research exposure inside SANSA's operating divisions.
