Global grants fund graduate students studying abroad in one of Rotary's areas of focus, four of which are squarely scientific or technical: fighting disease; providing clean water, sanitation and hygiene; improving maternal and child health; and protecting the environment (the remaining three are promoting peace, supporting education and growing local economies). Scholarships can run from one to four years, and The Foundation provides an 80% World Fund match for District Designated Fund contributions. There is no direct application portal — Rotary clubs and districts apply to The Foundation on a candidate's behalf, so the practical route is to approach a local club rather than Rotary International.
