Robert S. McNamara Fellowships Program

About This Program

A World Bank fellowship that places early-career researchers from developing countries at the Bank's Washington DC headquarters to work on development-related research alongside its own research staff. It is aimed at young researchers rather than degree-seeking students, so it functions as a research residency and mentorship placement rather than a tuition scholarship. Research topics span the Bank's portfolio, which includes climate adaptation, energy systems, water, agriculture, health systems and infrastructure as well as economics, so it is open to quantitatively trained candidates from science and engineering backgrounds. Administered alongside the larger Joint Japan/World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program on the same scholarships portal.
