Posse identifies students with extraordinary leadership potential and sends them to partner colleges and universities in supportive cohorts, or posses, on full-tuition leadership scholarships funded by those partner institutions. Entry is by nomination rather than open application, with nominations submitted through the foundation's nominator portal by high schools and community organisations in more than 20 US cities; the foundation also lists its college and university partners publicly. Posse Scholars graduate at a 90 percent rate against a 59 percent national figure, and 57 percent are first-generation college students. Partner institutions have committed 2.65 billion dollars in scholarships since 1989.
