A need-based award created by the Pennsylvania General Assembly in 2012 and administered by PHEAA for students enrolled in programmes of study in energy, health, advanced materials and diversified manufacturing, and agriculture and food production. Awards run up to a maximum of $6,000, or the student's actual unmet need after gift aid and employer aid, whichever is less; approved veteran applicants may receive up to 100 percent of total educational costs or the maximum award, whichever is less. Funds may be applied to tuition, books, fees, supplies and a living expense allowance. Applicants must be US citizens or eligible noncitizens as defined on the FAFSA, must be Pennsylvania domiciliaries, must hold a high school diploma, GED or recognised homeschool certificate, and must file the FAFSA and return the PA-TIP Student Application to PHEAA by 1 May.
