Pawsey Supercomputing Research Centre
A paid 12-week internship at Australia's Pawsey Supercomputing Research Centre, running from late November to mid-February inclusive of a two-week end-of-year shutdown, funded through a co-funding model in which Pawsey and the project researcher jointly fund the student stipend. Interns work on advanced computing research projects supervised by leading national and international researchers, and begin with a one-week skills bootcamp preparing them to use Pawsey resources before joining a national community of practice with interns across Australia supported by intern mentors. Projects span supercomputing, cloud computing, data and visualisation across all research domains, including machine learning, artificial intelligence, code optimisation, quantum computing and scientific visualisation. Applicants must be enrolled at an Australian university in second year or above of an undergraduate course, in Honours, or in a Masters by research or PhD, and must hold full-time working rights in Australia for the placement. The centre issues a call for projects mid-year and a separate call for student applications later in the year.
