HRSA's Bureau of Health Workforce pays tuition, eligible fees, reasonable costs including books, clinical supplies, instruments and uniforms, plus a monthly stipend for nursing students, in exchange for post-graduation service at an eligible facility with a critical shortage of nurses. Applicants must be US citizens, nationals or lawful permanent residents, accepted or enrolled in a nursing degree programme at an accredited US school of nursing, starting classes no later than 30 September, with no federal judgment liens, no existing service commitment and no overdue federal debt. Funding preference goes to applicants with the greatest financial need. The award is fully taxable and HRSA does not withhold state or local tax. Applications are filed through the My BHW portal and require a FAFSA Submission Summary and two letters of recommendation.
