An immersive entrepreneurial training programme run by the US National Science Foundation that prepares scientists and engineers to take research beyond the university laboratory toward commercialisation. The seven-week experiential curriculum, now delivered online, centres on customer discovery: teams interview potential customers and partners, attend a kick-off entrepreneurial immersion, weekly training meetings and a lessons-learned closing presentation. A national I-Corps team comprises an Entrepreneurial Lead, a Technical Lead and an Industrial Mentor, and training is delivered through regional I-Corps Hubs as well as national teams. The programme was expanded by Section 601 of the American Innovation and Competitiveness Act in 2017 and has helped launch more than 1,000 startups.
