Congressionally authorised US Nuclear Regulatory Commission grants that fund nuclear education at accredited American institutions, covering undergraduate scholarships, graduate fellowships, trade school and community college scholarships, and faculty development. Supported fields include nuclear science and engineering, health physics, radiochemistry, fusion energy research, nuclear safety, and related mechanical, civil, electrical, environmental, geotechnical and materials engineering disciplines. Scholarship and fellowship recipients must be US citizens or nationals and agree to a service obligation of six months for every year of support, which may be met at the NRC, another federal or state agency, nuclear-related industry or academia. Students cannot apply to the NRC directly; awards are made to institutions, which administer them.
