About This Program

A 10-to-12-week summer research program, running since 1959, in which undergraduates and graduating seniors conduct radio-astronomy research under the supervision of NRAO or Green Bank Observatory staff at sites in Socorro (NM), Green Bank (WV), or Charlottesville (VA). Students may use facilities such as the VLA, VLBA, and GBT and attend an extensive lecture series. The program includes an NSF-funded REU track for U.S. citizens and permanent residents plus assistantships for other eligible students; stipends and travel support are provided.
