A paid summer work programme run by the National Park Service in which young people carry out conservation work in national parks. Members are paid at least the state or federal minimum wage, whichever is higher, typically for a 40-hour week, and programmes usually run 8 to 10 weeks though some extend to 18. Open to US permanent residents aged 15 through 18 who can commute daily to the site; most programmes are day-only with no onsite housing, Yellowstone National Park being the sole exception offering overnight accommodation. Applications are made through each participating park's point of contact rather than a single national portal.
