The award includes a stipend for the junior and senior academic years, two paid internships at NOAA facilities, conference participation, and professional development and networking support. NOAA reports that 75 percent of program alumni go on to graduate school. This is distinct from the Ernest F. Hollings Undergraduate Scholarship, which NOAA runs separately.
