The student internship program of the National Laboratory of the Rockies in Golden, Colorado, the Department of Energy applied-energy laboratory previously named the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL). DOE announced the new name in December 2025, and the laboratory's web presence has moved to nlr.gov. Separate tracks exist for undergraduate and graduate students, offered on-site, hybrid and virtual, and interns work with laboratory researchers on applied energy systems research using the site's specialised test facilities and computing resources.
