The National Institute for Metalworking Skills sets and awards the industry-recognised competency credentials used across US precision manufacturing, covering machining, CNC operation and programming, metalforming, industrial maintenance and related skills. Credentials are earned against published NIMS standards, and are portable between employers and states. NIMS publishes an Interactive Standards Viewer and its Smart Training Solutions platform for a streamlined credentialing process, and accredits training programmes at community colleges, high schools and employer training centres.
