A paid research internship at the National Energy Technology Laboratory, the Department of Energy's applied energy research lab, administered through ORISE. Interns work alongside NETL scientists and engineers on energy research covering areas such as carbon management, hydrogen, materials engineering, computational science and geological and environmental systems. Participants receive a weekly stipend set by academic classification and experience. Eligibility covers undergraduate and graduate students in good standing at a regionally accredited college or university, post-baccalaureates within two years of graduation and post-master's candidates within three years, with a minimum 2.5 GPA and a minimum age of 18. Appointments run from two weeks to a year and are renewable, up to four years for undergraduates. NETL also runs postdoctoral fellowship and faculty research programmes on rolling deadlines.
