A collegiate programme that pays engineering, physics, chemistry and mathematics students a monthly income while they finish an undergraduate degree, in exchange for a commission as a Naval Nuclear Officer afterwards. Eligible participants draw Navy pay and allowances for up to 42 months of study, which makes it one of the largest per-student financial packages available to an undergraduate in a technical field. Candidates must be US citizens enrolled full-time at an accredited college or university with a GPA above 3.00, must have completed or be completing Calculus I and II and Physics I and II, and must pass medical and security screening; some requirements are waiverable case by case. Accepted candidates owe five years of active duty after graduation, roughly the first 18 months of which are officer and nuclear power training. Applications run through a local Navy officer recruiter rather than a single annual deadline.
