Official Website nasa.gov

About This Program

A NASA challenge in which undergraduate student teams design, build and test a tool or device addressing an authentic current space exploration problem, working directly with NASA engineers on prototypes for future Artemis missions. Selected teams travel to the Neutral Buoyancy Laboratory at Johnson Space Center in Houston, where professional divers test the designs underwater while the students direct operations from the test conductor room. Open to US college and university undergraduates. The annual cycle opens with a letter of intent and proposal in the autumn, design reviews in late winter, and prototype test week the following June.
