The doctoral half of the Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions, and the route most people miss because the call is written for institutions while the jobs are advertised to individuals. Consortia of at least three organisations in different EU member states or Horizon Europe associated countries run integrated doctoral programmes, then recruit doctoral candidates internationally, largely through the EURAXESS portal. Projects run up to four years, or five for Joint Doctorates, and cover research, training and networking alongside a living allowance, a mobility allowance and conditional family and special-needs support. Candidates of any nationality are eligible provided they do not already hold a doctorate and meet the mobility rule, which generally bars more than 12 months' residence in the recruiting country during the preceding three years.
