Formerly the American Mineralogist Undergraduate Award, the MSA Undergraduate Prize recognises students cited by their department for outstanding achievement in mineralogy-related courses. Nomination comes from a faculty sponsor rather than direct student application. Each recipient is presented a certificate at an awards ceremony at their own university or college and receives a student membership in the Mineralogical Society of America with access to the electronic editions of American Mineralogist and Elements, plus a Reviews in Mineralogy and Geochemistry or Monograph volume chosen by the sponsor, the student, or both. The prize has run since 1985.
