About This Program

The Mineralogical Society of America awards up to US$5,000 for research in crystallography, funded by the Edward H. Kraus Crystallographic Research Fund with contributions from MSA members. Graduate and undergraduate students as well as beginning faculty and young researchers are encouraged to apply, though all proposals are considered together. Applicants must be MSA members, may not submit the same proposal to both this and the Mineralogy and Petrology grant in the same year, and may not be MSA Councilors. The grant covers research-related expenses only; travel to meetings, conferences, short courses, tuition, living expenses, salary and overhead are excluded.
