Massachusetts Institute of Technology
A six-week residential programme on the MIT campus from late June to early August for rising high school seniors, formerly known simply as MITES. Students take five college-level courses covering mathematics, life sciences, physics, humanities and a project-based elective, with classes weekdays 9am to 5pm plus substantial evening and weekend study. They also join lab tours, company visits and seminars with STEM professionals, a college fair with admissions counsellors, and social events around Greater Boston, and receive written instructor evaluations at the end for use in college applications. Open to US citizens and permanent residents who are high school juniors. The programme is free of charge apart from transport to and from MIT, and travel scholarships are available.
