About This Program

A 38-credit, 100% online, cohort-based data science master’s taught by faculty from the University of Michigan School of Information, completed in one to three years full- or part-time with standard or advanced entry. The curriculum covers the full data science life cycle - collection, computation and analysis through visualisation and communication - with a human-centred approach, including Python, machine learning and natural language processing, data mining and predictive modelling, and fluency in generative AI. Students finish with an end-to-end portfolio project. Michigan residents pay a lower per-credit rate than out-of-state students because the university is partially state-funded, and rates are the same whether studying full or part time.
