The technical component of Louisiana's Taylor Opportunity Program for Students, administered by the Louisiana Office of Student Financial Assistance alongside the TOPS Opportunity, Performance and Honors awards. TOPS Tech funds up to two years of vocational or technical training, covering certificate, diploma and non-academic degree programmes at Louisiana Community and Technical College System campuses, accredited public colleges and universities, LAICU member private institutions and approved proprietary and cosmetology schools. Since 2017 it has also covered shorter-term skill, occupational, vocational, technical, certificate and academic programmes aligned to state workforce priorities. Eligibility requires a minimum 2.50 GPA in the TOPS Core Curriculum, an ACT score of at least 17 or the SAT equivalent, and completion of the 21-unit TOPS Tech JumpStart Core Curriculum at a BESE-approved high school. Students must enrol full-time as a first-time freshman by the first semester following the first anniversary of high school graduation, and renew with a 2.50 cumulative GPA by spring and at least 24 credit hours a year.
