LJIdea is the flagship internship and mentorship programme of the La Jolla Institute for Immunology in San Diego, giving local high school and undergraduate students six to eight weeks of hands-on biomedical research across the institute's immunology labs each summer. The programme began in 2022 and is run as a deliberate regional pipeline for San Diego County students. Interns are compensated for their work and the programme also funds a daily meal stipend, lab supplies, mentor stipends and off-site educational visits.
