A free advanced manufacturing certification programme from LIFT, the Department of War-supported national advanced materials and manufacturing innovation institute. Trainees earn nationally portable, industry-recognised credentials in one of four tracks: welding with AWS certification, CNC machine operations with NIMS certification, industrial technology maintenance mechanic with NIMS certification, and robotics with SACA certification. Training blends online coursework with hands-on lab work and can be completed in as little as three months. The programme is free to Michigan and Montana residents aged 18 and older, and to transitioning active-duty service members, National Guard members and Reservists in Indiana. It began as a route for separating military members and their spouses and has since expanded to serve veterans and civilians.
