About This Program

An eleven-week paid internship at Los Alamos National Laboratory, running May 26 to August 7, 2026, giving students hands-on experience building and operating state-of-the-art and next-generation compute clusters, high-speed networks, containers and security. It opens with a three-week boot camp in which teams build a functioning mini-supercomputer from equipment, followed by project phases on real HPC Division challenges, professional development and a final presentation. Aimed at rising juniors, seniors, master's students and recent bachelor's or associate's graduates, with rising sophomores and graduate students occasionally accepted. Intermediate Linux and command-line skills plus scripting experience are required, but prior HPC experience is not; applications close the first Tuesday in January.
