A summer school at Los Alamos National Laboratory built around three pillars: foundational space physics and magnetosphere dynamics, designing innovative space missions, and current laboratory activities with career development. Students attend lectures and hands-on data analysis and modelling labs, tour facilities, and team up with Laboratory mentors on unresolved problems in space physics, with many past projects leading to conference presentations and peer-reviewed publications. Open to PhD students in space physics, planetary science, aerospace engineering and related fields, including international students; preference goes to those past their first year. Participants receive the Vela Fellowship, valued at $14,000 toward travel and living expenses.
