A summer research internship that places students enrolled at Indian institutions in laboratories at leading U.S. universities for ten to twelve weeks. Run jointly by the Department of Biotechnology (Government of India), the Indo-U.S. Science and Technology Forum and WINStep Forward, it is named for Har Gobind Khorana, the 1968 Nobel laureate who worked at the interface of chemistry and biology. Eligible fields cover biotechnology and allied areas including agricultural, food, health and biomedical sciences, plus interdisciplinary work in computational science and machine learning. Support covers round-trip airfare, a stipend and health insurance; accommodation, visa fees and any bench fees are the scholar's responsibility unless the host lab covers them. Aimed at pre-final-year students; first-year, final-year and PhD students are not eligible.
