Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research
A flagship programme of the Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research in Bengaluru, running since 1991 and having supported more than 2,600 fellows. Bachelor's and master's students in science and engineering, plus pharmacy, technology, medicine, agriculture and veterinary science, are placed for two months with a JNCASR scientist in the Life Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Chemical Biology, Physical Sciences, Materials Science or Engineering Sciences. Fellows receive Rs 10,000 a month plus minimal travel support. Applicants need at least 65 percent in core subjects and aggregate at Class 10 and 12, and a first class in previous degree semesters. The application window for the 2026 cohort ran from 22 December 2025 to 31 January 2026, with a Rs 500 application fee.
