A national school-innovation scheme run by the Department of Science and Technology with the National Innovation Foundation, aimed at students in Classes 6 to 10 in any recognised school in India. Schools nominate original ideas and innovations rooted in everyday problems; shortlisted students receive a grant to build a prototype and progress through district and state exhibitions to a national level fair. The scheme targets a million ideas a year and is intended to seed a culture of creativity and science-based problem solving well before students choose a stream.
