The internship program of Idaho National Laboratory, the U.S. Department of Energy's lead nuclear energy laboratory, based on the eastern Idaho desert site near Idaho Falls. Interns are placed against the laboratory's research portfolio, which spans nuclear energy and reactor development, microreactors, integrated energy systems, cybersecurity and critical-infrastructure protection, artificial intelligence, and national security. INL operates its own research reactors and user facilities, so placements include hands-on work at experimental nuclear and energy-systems facilities alongside staff researchers.
