The foundation of the International Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology funds allied ophthalmic personnel through certification exam fees, tuition at accredited ophthalmic training programs and continuing education. Named awards include the Jennie B. Busch Memorial, Barbara Cassin Memorial for COMT trainees, Phil H. Weber Memorial, Michelle P. Herrin, Marina V. Evans Armstrong, Tyree Carr MD and Roger P. Harrie MD scholarships, plus Training Program and Orthoptist Training Program awards and dedicated funds for Georgetown University ophthalmic medical technology students. The foundation reports having awarded more than US$1 million to date.
