About This Program

At least two $2,500 grants each academic year from the Illuminating Engineering Society for full-time juniors, seniors and graduate students at accredited four-year institutions in Northern California, Nevada, Oregon or Washington who intend to pursue illumination as a career. Qualifying fields are broad: architecture, electrical engineering, interior design, theatre, film and television, lighting design and vision science all count, as does any programme clearly related to lighting. Applicants submit a statement of purpose on their lighting education, a resume and two references, at least one from someone working in lighting professionally or academically. Applications close before 1 April. Lighting is a field where the professional-society awards are effectively the only discipline-specific funding available.
